Former American Idol contestant Curtis “C.J.” Harris died Sunday at a Walker County hospital. American Idol star CJ Harris dies at 31.
Update: The Walker County Coroner told TMZ that Harris’ official cause of death was listed as a heart attack and therefore no autopsy was necessary.
Walker County Coroner Joey Vick said Harris, 31, was taken to Walker Baptist Medical Center in medical distress. CPR was performed on the former singer, but he was pronounced dead a short time later. The singer is reported to have suffered a heart attack.
The official cause of death has not yet been released at this point in time. Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

American Idol star CJ Harris dies at 31
In 2014, Harris was a country-soul singer who placed sixth during season 13 of the reality series. During his time on the show, Harris performed “Soulshine” by the Allmans, “Trouble,” by LaMontagne, “Too Close” for groups, “Whipping Post” for the Final Judgment. Also, Harris displayed his soul chops with a rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home to Me.”
