History

The American Idol reality singing series premiered in 2002 on FOX.

However, in 2016, after several seasons of declining ratings, FOX canceled the series. Then, on March 11, 2018, a revival of the series began airing on ABC.

How do I audition for American Idol?

American Idol is currently looking for the next singing superstar! If you will be at least 15 years old by Feb. 15, 2024, and believe you have what it takes, check out the Idol Across America virtual audition tour.

Voting – Live Shows Only

Fans of American Idol who are at least 13 and reside in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands, can vote online at AmericanIdol.com/vote.

There is also the American Idol app, or via text once the live shows begin, but before that, it is up to the judges.
