When NASA returns astronauts to the moon in 2024, its objective extends beyond brief explorations. The area firm hopes to plant the seeds for long-lasting expedition objectives. But to take lunar profession from dream to truth, human beings are going to requirement a little assistance. That’s why a robotic called VIPER is going initially.
“The best place, if you could find it on the Moon, would be a permanently shadowed area with water, near a peak with persistent light that could stay sunlit almost all year for power from solar panels, and a cave for shelter,” says John Thornton from Astrobotic, the company contracted by NASA to transport VIPER to the Moon.
NASA is getting ready to send its first rover to the moon in decades.
The VIPER will spend 100 days surveying the South Pole of the lunar surface.
