Review Microsoft Xbox Acquires Activision Blizzard Reactions

Xbox is acquiring Activision Blizzard for billions of dollars. Review Microsoft Xbox Acquires Activision Blizzard Reactions.

Microsoft paid money to change the game landscape in a huge event.
Here’s a new post from Gamespot YouTube Channel which may help explain the ramifications in more detail.

Here are several reactions and opportunities to discuss these issues.
Xbox now owns the RPG (Obsidian, Bethedsa, Fable, inXile) , FPS (Halo, Overwatch, Doom, Wolfenstein, COD), Strategy (StarCraft, Warcraft, AoE, Halo Wars, Gears Tactics), MMO (Wow and ESO), and arguably the racing market (Forza, Forza Horizon, Crash Nitro Carts). That’s not even looking at the 20 other AAA games they have cooking.
I’m personally excited for COD Zombies. Everything else from Activision not so much.
But free Activision games on gamepass rocks! Condolences to my PS brethren. A moment of silence please.

Will this be good for the studios, employees, and customers?

Dominance by “Big Tech” is an issue.

It will probably be good for the studios, employees etc. Microsoft is considered one of the best places to work and they have a wide range of revenue sources and can afford to delay a AAA release if it’s not working out. That said, I am concerned about the ever-increasing dominance of “big-tech” in our lives. It can’t be good if more and more of our media is in the hands of a few companies.

From no games to how many?

Xbox really took the whole “Xbox has no games” thing to heart and decided to try and buy all the games

What about the fix and developer help needed?

I’m more interested and hopeful that they will fix and help the developers and teams and try and change the way things run over in those studios rather than whether or not they will Be exclusive. People matter more than games and I think Microsoft can really change the image over there if it’s done with people in mind.

Will the deal pass the regulators?

I would expect this to be referred as reduces competition and will harm consumers potentially.

What are the short and long-term effects likely to be within the studio and consumers?

I see this as a good thing in the short turn but am worried about long term. The more studios under microsoft the larger their market share and at some point is that going to be large enough to buy out their rivals? Monopolies in any industry tend to be a bad thing for consumers.
