Another look at this video results clip!
We Will Rock You was the opening number…only a few more weeks left in this race to the top!
The contestants will also be paired up for movie-themed duets.
Walker Burroughs — “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” Walker defers to be a robot not moving – Adam Lambert called him quirky…having fun. Drop the awkward…or maybe not. He has legs that move…now the vocals were not perfect…text 14 to the number for him. Perry used all of his extremities…Luke tells America to fall for him, endearing…Lionel explained do not think, be present. Zero about his vocals..hmm I thought it was somewhat pedestrian.
Madison VanDenburg — “The Show Must Go On” Adam called her vocals as nuts. Yes, we already know that… He said put your foot down and be the authority…keep walking. She has some intellect, by portraying the emotion in a good way! This was a step up from the first act. Text 8 to the number. Luke claimed the diva moment, you make it look easy, the best vocal performance we have heard. Lionel confirm she made us feel it. Perry…you have come so far! Stage mom, step it up one more, no more wire hangers.
Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon — “Who Wants to Live Forever” He shared that his parents would make their first attendance. Adam suggested losing the guitar, he did and wanted the emotional feelings to need to show. This was his best performance! Great coaching advice Adam. Biggest crowd reaction. Perry, you froze time, more about the parents. Luke, you continue to spoil us, the emotions showed through. Lionel called him powerful. His dad called his voice powerful and he is the best here! Text 9
Alejandro Aranda — “Under Pressure.” Adam talked about his song and wanted to do it acoustically. He knows he does not want to mess too much with the arrangement. Adam thought he is about to have a special moment, just believe in it. Again Adam has all the skills. Alejandro stamps this song with his own style…Luke listen to the audience, you see the painting in a different way, you paint it your way, vocally he wanted better. Lionel, you are an artist, an amazing stylist, stay with the core. Perry talked about his secret sauce…and he is handling it well. He talked about not butchering the song. Text 11.
Laine Hardy — “Fat Bottomed Girls.” Adam talked about making the room a party. Your voice is fine. Laine has the introverted manners, then he threw his own voice into the mix. This has to be his moment or go home! He got it! Adam shines again, with his coaching leaves the others in the pits. Worthy of another round next week guys! The panel loved it. Text 1 girls.
Laci Kaye Booth — “Love of My Life.” Adam said she was a huge fan. Learn how to hide the nerves, use the energy to capture the emotion, she was clever to take it all on board. He told her to take the breaks as she felt it. Do not have to look at the screen, just simply listening will take you on a journey. So captivating in such a humble way. Crowd pre-interjected at the end. Lionel one heck of a little vehicle and this could be the star right on the stage. Perry called her a diamond, you have won… so special. Luke talked about the sell the emotion of the song and capture the emotion, truly remarkable. Text 13
Wade Cota — “We Are the Champions” Adam told him to stay standing if he wants. Keep the mic in the stand, an emotion of celebration. Adam wants him to tap into the meaning of the song he may do well. And… it is cut for time. Luke missed a lyric, some real singing true character voice. Lionel, you fought through this, he kept on going. Top 8 you have already won. Perry, Adam did not win AI back then… whatever happens. Text 6 to save him.
Alyssa Raghu — “Somebody to Love” Adam talked to Alyssa, she has a natural theatrical voice, use her playful diva vocal. He wants this moment to be a release, she needs to contend with the vulnerability of the lyrics. Plenty of dramatics to support her vocal, which is refreshing compared to her duet earlier. Lionel the epitome of determination, you wail away, never lose your determination. Perry talked about puberty and her voice. Luke, we need to capture the top end of your voice.
American Idol Top 8 Duet Pairings
Laine Hardy and Laci Kaye Booth sang Jackson…this is their second collaboration this season. Both with guitars and a huge mic right in front of her main shot. Nothing special going on here. Nope. Underwhelming for me. Lionel called Laci as being sassy, so darn comfortable together. Perry called them connected…something else..going on between, wondering…she felt it. Luke called them comfortable…yous grow-in!
Alyssa Raghu and Wade Cota the most unexpected duo in AI history. Nope. She was skeptical before the event.
Madison Vandenburg and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon A Million Dreams…much better. Power with control.
Walker Burroughs and Alejandro Aranda more fill performed Mrs. Robinson!
