These performances were recorded on April 12, 2019, and aired Sunday night April 15, 2019. Monday, April 16, 2019, will be the first live show this season. This season the voting ratio is 7 public votes and 3 judges making the top 10!

The contestants are reintroduced to the audience with some background stories featuring family and location. You are in the driver seat, this is American Idol!
Laine Hardy – That’s Alright Mama by Elvis Presley with a guitar. He likes how he feels in a suit. Perry does her Presley impersonation, she loves this bayou boy. Luke let go, your voice has come so far this season. Lionel said to do it some more.
Evelyn Cormier – The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. She grew up in a family band and owns the unique tone of the voice. Lots of energy on stage. Luke wondered about a VH leg kick, a whole new element. Lionel, that is what show business is all about. Perry, what a great song choice, the other side of you and it paid off.
Alyssa Raghu – She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles. She was recalling her journey to date and the importance of the now. Lionel talked about the work she had done. Perry called herself a fan. It was a great song. Luke keep the audience engaged the whole performance.
Eddie Island – Benny and the Jets by Elton John. He talked about weight in middle school that affected him so bad that he lost 50 pounds in two months to meet graduation. Eddie tries his own impersonation to the Elton realm. Perry thought it was really good and Counting Crows in his voice. Luke asked about his outfit. Make sure you stay on top of the vocal. Lionel praised him for being odd and follow his own path. Get on point and stay there.
Riley Thompson – Suds in a Bucket by Sara Evans. She went back to her hometown for friends and family. Her little sister cheerleads for her in a cute way. Luke asked her about becoming a star, loved the choice of song. Lionel are you watching America, it has been the attack of the 16-year-old. Perry, you keep growing to the next level, so natural, owning the stage. Seacrest invites her 7-year-old sister on stage.
Wade Cota – Trouble by Ray LaMontagne with a guitar. He talks about growing up singing metal music and his raspy voice. Lionel called him The Hammer, you brought the hammer, he loved it. Perry called his performance was perfect in all ways. Luke, it was a spiritual moment using your body to draw us in.
Dimitrius Graham – Perfect by Ed Sheeran (reworked arrangement). He was introduced into opera many years ago and this was revisited in his VT as well as his family support. Perry looks perfect and developed into an artist, an exceptional singer, she wants him to bring the emotion. Luke, work the microphone and partner it with your voice. Lionel, he has an explosive voice, give us the rest of your career and you will go far.
Madison Vandenburg – Fallin’ by Alicia Keys (the judges went nuts over this). Perry called her the next Kelly Clarkson, at 17 she was partly overwhelmed by that. She spoke about her family. Perry fangirled all over Madison. Luke called her superstar contention you made a statement. Lionel the crowd went crazy, you killed it. Perry you just carved out your own niche, please keep giving that and more.
Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon – We All Fall in Love Sometimes by Elton John on piano. Jeremiah talked about attending his sister’s wedding where he reconnected with his parents and being in a better place. Another standing ovation. Lionel took it past Elton to Freddie and onto Jeremiah – amazing. Perry called herself a mess, your story is everything and so proud of him. Luke was emotional as well…so blessed to have this job chimed in Perry.
Uche – Finesse by Bruno Mars. He talked about his journey and love for dance wants to leave it all on the stage. All the panel were dancing to this performance. Perry does a pass out the act on the desk and the crowd went nuts. Perry wants him to keep swinging. Luke called it the opening of an award show. Lionel, you are the showstopper.
Alejandro Aranda – One Dance by Drake – Performed “electronic style” He said since his first audition social media has grown receiving many positive messages about his work. Luke in his eyes you can do no wrong, a resident in Las Vegas. Lionel talked about his versatility and range of performances. Perry wanted more rhythm… do keep to nurturing your art.
Ashley Hess – Fix You by Coldplay on piano – Music has been a big part of her life and how passionate it is as she talked to James IV from season 15 Top 24. Lionel called her strong in her performance. Luke called it being spoiled and in love with you.
Laci Kaye Booth – I Miss You by Blink 182. Katy said she was “the Idol.” She talked about returning home to her family and friends. A little less spray tanning was her want for us. Perry, you sing timeless, and you are the definition of Idol. Luke talked about the coolest how she talked about the tanning mishap. Lionel, we could not be more proud of blossoming in front of us.
Walker Burroughs – Climb Every Mountain from Sound of Music. He went back home to Nashville and spent time with family and friends. He talked about the pressure and rewards that keep him in the game. The panel all gave him praise for the performance.
