Team Guy Sebastian He sang Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott Chriddy Black Voice Australia 2019 Blind video.

The 26-year-old felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.

The truck driver from the Gold Coast turned four chairs with his soulful rendition. To understand where this raw emotion comes from is to understand Chriddy and the family tragedy that changed his life.

Here, he tells how the suicide of his father when he was just five years old helped shape him into the person and artist he is today.

I’ve done a bit of modelling in the past, so I’m not camera shy. [Laughs] It was cool to have a bit of fun and flirtatiousness out there. I love that kind of stuff — I love banter. It’s cool as long as you can stay level-headed and don’t let that kind of stuff get to you and change who you are. I always stay humble and modest.

There’s a saying that I really like, “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.” There’s so many clichés that are cringey but are so true. That just kind of sums it up. I’ve been through a lot — and a lot of other things people don’t know about — but everybody suffers on a different level, and we can all relate to it one way or another.

But it’s good to talk and open up when you do go through all those battles. There’s always a light at the end of a tunnel. Even if it’s two days later or two years later, eventually if you keep fighting, you make it. And when you do, you are one hell of a strong person.
